Waterhousea floribunda ‘Amaroo’ is a selected form of the weeping lilly pilly, holding the species’ soft pendulous foliage on a tidier, more consistent crown. Clusters of white flowers appear through summer against dense green foliage.
In the landscape
A dependable choice for screens, hedges and driveway planting where an even, repeatable habit matters, the selection holds its line better than seedling stock. Plant at 2–3 m centres for a continuous evergreen screen, or stand it alone as a soft weeping specimen.
Growing notes
Reliable through Queensland and New South Wales and into warm-temperate Victoria. Fast-growing in most soils, from heavy clay to loam, with best results on reliable moisture. Evergreen and frost-resistant once established, tolerant of tropical heat and urban pollution, with non-invasive roots. Left untrimmed it reaches 8–15 m tall by 4–8 m wide; it is easily held at hedge scale.
