Delivery & Craneage
An ex-ground tree is a considerable thing to move. Root balls on our estate trees weigh from 850 to 3,000 kilograms, and delivering one safely is a discipline we have refined over decades of supplying projects across Australia and abroad. It is work we arrange for every tree we sell.
How an ex-ground tree travels
Each ex-ground specimen is lifted in a hessian-lined, engineer-rated wire basket, tensioned with eight straps, so the root ball holds its structure from our ground to yours. Trees are trucked under shade cloth and supported by tree yokes for the journey, arriving in the condition in which they left the row.
Root balls and baskets
- Baskets 1.4 metres wide and 0.8 metres deep carry trees of 3.5 to 5.5 metres, with moist root balls of 850 to 1,200 kilograms.
- Baskets 1.6 metres wide and 1.2 metres deep carry trees of 6 to 8 metres, with root balls of 1,200 to 2,000 kilograms.
- Baskets 2 metres wide and 1.5 metres deep carry trees of 6.5 to 15 metres, depending on species, with root balls of 2,000 to 3,000 kilograms.
The tree is planted basket and all: the hessian rots away, the wire degrades in the soil, and in the meantime the basket stabilises the root ball while the tree establishes.
Craneage
Our delivery trucks carry their own crane. Where the truck can stand within seven to eight metres of the planting hole, the crane places the tree directly into position — no second machine, no double handling. Where access is tighter, we will talk through the options with you before the tree leaves the farm.
Australia-wide
We deliver Australia-wide, from a single specimen to a full project consignment. Delivery is quoted with each quotation: submit your Shortlist with your delivery postcode and a note on site access, and your quotation will set out delivery and placement for your site.
